10/3/2011 to 10/31/2011 – With the culmination of rafting season came my first empty fall I’ve ever had, and with that, I felt an educational void. To fill this void, I headed to Juneau, AK to take a EMT + W (wilderness) class through the month of October. The month was largely spent inside the abandoned gas station Northern Safety Operations (http://northernsafetyoperations.com/) calls home, avoiding Alaska’s rainiest month, with excursions outdoors to practice medical emergency scenarios. The class was intensive but focused and I couldn’t have had a better time! Also a plus – the whole class passed! Unfortunately, I only had a camera for the latter half of the month, but hopefully these few photos can tell the story of our class.
