11/25 to 12/12/2020 – Grete and I needed to get out after a hectic fall semester of graduate school and roughly 9 months of COVID driven local-only living. We weighed the options for safe and responsible travel, ending up deciding that a roadtrip to the desert was reasonable. So, we packed up Vanilla Bean with a couple weeks worth of camping, hiking, and cycling gear and headed south. We enjoyed Thanksgiving with Grete’s folks in Colorado then continued on to camp, hike, and ride at some of our old classics (Fruita, Moab, Arches and Canyonlands) and new gems (Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and Gooseberry). It wasn’t the bicycle tour we were craving and the camping was pretty chilly (sorry Blue…), but the break was much needed and the red dirt certainly helped us re-center a bit.
